Areas of Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee the design and development of child consumer products, particularly car seats with integrated electronic features, ensuring all products comply with US market regulations and safety standards (e.g., FMVSS, CPSIA)
  • Act as the key expert on US market safety standards, ensuring products meet or exceed regulatory requirements. Guide product development to align with evolving US safety regulations and certification processes
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, regularly reviewing project milestones to ensure technical, regulatory, and safety objectives are met. Organize and conduct product testing for compliance verification
  • Develop and implement mechanical solutions for product innovation, including freehand sketches and complex design work for both plastic and metal components. Lead small teams in creating high-performance product prototypes
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, CAD drawings, and compliance reports. Act as the primary interface for regulatory bodies, internal teams, and external partners, ensuring clear communication on safety requirements and product specifications
  • Provide guidance and support to foreign suppliers, particularly during series production launches, ensuring compliance with US safety standards. Offer on-site support during key phases of product roll-out
  • Foster cooperation and effective communication between global teams, particularly in navigating compliance and safety requirements for US markets
  • Integrate customer feedback and regulatory updates into product designs, ensuring continual alignment with US market needs and standards
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as requested by superiors that align with the position’s scope and company operations, especially regarding safety, compliance, and market-specific regulations

 

Your Qualifications:

 

  • Degree in mechanical engineering, plastics technology, or a related field, with specialized knowledge of US compliance and safety standards
  • Proven experience in developing consumer products (plastics, metals), ideally within the child safety or automotive sector (car seats or similar products)
  • Strong understanding of US safety regulations and compliance standards, such as FMVSS, CPSIA, ASTM, or other relevant certifications for child products and car seats
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferably PTC Creo, for the development of complex components and technical drawings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with regulatory bodies, international teams, and external suppliers
  • A meticulous and independent approach to work, with the ability to resolve technical challenges efficiently while ensuring adherence to safety standards
  • Willingness to travel, including trips to China and the US, to collaborate with global suppliers and ensure product compliance and safety during production
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing regulatory, design, and production challenges in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset, fostering cross-functional cooperation and maintaining synergy across diverse teams
  • Fluency in English is required, German is a plus
